Welcome to the P.S / M.S. 96 website!
P.S. / M.S. 96 is located at 216 East 120 th Street in East Harlem. Our school houses students in grades Pre K-8.
We take pride in our school community of students, teachers, families and staff.
Leading our school community is Principal Betty Lugo, Assistant Principal Helene Otero, and Assistant Principal James Konstaninakos. They are supported by approximately 30 classroom teachers and support staff, who are all hard at work to make P.S. 96 Scholars Academy a wonderful and positive learning environment for all children.
The Mission of the P.S. 96 community is to provide a child-centered and challenging learning environment that fosters critical thinking and is responsive to student's multiple needs and learning styles. We will raise students' literacy and mathematics levels to meet and surpass New York City and State Standards. Together we will develop positive interactions among parents, staff and students that encourage participation in school decision making. This active partnership among parents and staff will promote a sense of self worth and responsibility in our children which will nurture their development as productive and successful individuals.
